
Jessica Michelle Chastain, born on March 24, 1977, is an American actress. She is most well-known for her performances in films with female-centric themes. She has been awarded numerous awards including an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine listed her as one of the top 100 influential people around the globe in 2012. Chastain was an avid actor from a young age. She made her professional stage debut in the role of Shakespeare's Juliet in 1998. She was a student at the Juilliard School and was then hired to a talent-holding contract with John Wells, a television producer. She was regular guest stars on a variety of television shows as well as starring in numerous stage productions. Chastain made her debut film in Jolene (2008) aged 31. The actress went on to make six films in the year 2011 which included The Tree of Life (2011) and Take Shelter (2011). In her roles as an aspirant socialite and CIA analyst, she earned Academy Award nominations in The Help (2011) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The science-fiction films Interstellar (2014), The Martian (2015) and It Chapter Two (2018) were commercially more successful. Chastain was recognized for her performance as a strong-willed woman, for example, in the dramas Most Violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017). She was also a part of the miniseries on television Scenes from a Marriage (1921). After playing Tammy Faye Bakker, she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress as well as Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21) and Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21). Chastain is the co-founder and investor of Freckle Films, a production company that encourages diversity in film. She has a strong voice on gender equality, mental illness and racial equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo is her husband.
