April Ross

April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball athletes to win medals at least twice in an Olympics. Alix-Klineman will be competing with April Ross Tokyo to win her third gold in the next few days. But more than that, Ross hopes to win her first Olympic gold. With her age of 39, this may be her final chance to take home the Olympic gold. The athlete is optimistic she can achieve top honors. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that if the team plays very well, or even at all, they can earn a gold. This is also a matter of chance. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and sister. In addition to playing in numerous sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. In her time as a college athlete, she also played indoor track and volleyball. She was definitely the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. When she played in her time at the high school level as per her college bio, she was a middle-blocker, outside-hitter and setter. To honor her achievements, she received the Gatorade Award for National Player 1999. Her skills in volleyball brought her an Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. Even though Ross and Klineman are in the spotlight since 2017, the former was already a big-time participant on the beaches prior to their team. In fact, she's won numerous events, one of which was with a legendary volleyball player. In the period 2007 until 2013, she was a team with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's partner on the 2009 World Championships. The duo eventually captured an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were knocked out of the gold by the legendary group comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. The pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a college athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to her pro career. She played in high school, as well as before hitting the beaches as a professional. Her time at USC was an impressive one. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year when she was a teen freshman. In addition, she helped her Trojans to reach the Final Four. She suffered a devastating personal loss in her sophomore year and yet she went on to repeat in the ranks of an All-American. In her last two seasons as a player, she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain by winning two three consecutive championships at the national level. Individually she had cemented her place as a legend winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross was a major in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter make it to the top of beach volleyball. Ross lost her mom to cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Ross holds her mother dear. Margie is a beach lover and in daily life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
